Ganeca Transport is the result of a long family history
Willie Letarte founded Drummondville Transport in the 1940’s, in Drummondville Quebec, and the whole family got involved in the new business. One of his sons, Emilien Letarte, liked the job and decided to make it his career.

In 1954, wanting to do things on his own, Emilien bought Lemaire Express in St-Hyacinthe and a few years later changed the name to St-Hyacinthe Express. In 1969, he bought his father’s company and merged the two companies’ operations under a new name: Letarte Transport. In 1975, he founded C.L.E. Leasing which provided dedicated transportation services up until the transport deregulation.

Being a visionary in his field, Emilien Letarte saw the changes coming and decided to create Ganeca Transport Inc in 1982. When the government deregulated the transportation industry, he was ready to transfer all his transportation activities to Ganeca Transport. When he passed away in 1990, his daughter Sylvie Letarte Simoneau and his son Yves Letarte took the reigns of the company.

The name Ganeca comes from the word "Ganesha", the Indian god of good fortune, represented by an elephant head. As the elephant in the jungle forges mightily ahead, so does Ganesha break a path for the devotee. He is the lord who gives success in under takings. He removes obstacles and symbolizes wisdom. The elephant is part of our logo because its symbol characterizes our values.
